Our recent trip to China

In the late spring and early summer of 2011, Sue and I traveled to China in order to teach classes at Beijing Normal University. We were there for three months, which included three weeks of language study in Guilin, four weeks of teaching in Beijing, and travel to other locations. One of the highlights of this trip, pottery-wise, was a visit to the Gansu Provincial Museum in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu province, where there was a spectacular collection and display of neolithic pottery.

On this page, I will from time to time add more images of these pieces. These are not ideal photographs, due to the museum setting, but they are good enough that I think they convey a lot of information about the forms and surfaces.
